The One Hundred Day Creative Challenge: Day 10

The One Hundred Day Creative Challenge: Day 10
I haven’t had a great writing day for a while. I’ve done a lot of writing, but I haven’t focused on my novels for a couple of weeks. I enjoy everything I write —articles, blogs, novels, letters, cards — anything, but to have a day of being seriously focused on writing a novel — now that’s a gift!

A good writing day clears the psyche. As I wrote yesterday, my creative process is a little random. I carry around future scenes from my works-in-progress in my head like movies. If they stay stuck in my head for too long, they can get crowded out by other thoughts or stored deep, deep, deep in the dark recesses of my mind and may stay there like a forgotten vegetable in the back corner of the crisper!

A good writing day is one where I have six to eight hours of uninterrupted writing. I can write thousands of words in a day. They’re all there, just waiting to be released onto the page.

Once they’re out, my mind is at peace. The relief is palpable.

Whoever thought being a writer was a good idea!
